Support S.A.F.E. House

Your generous donation will help provide shelter care for a woman and her child, parenting skills education, counseling for a child victim, or crisis intervention services. Say "Yes" to making a difference in the lives of battered families.

Upcoming Events

There is always something going on at S.A.F.E. House. Click on our events page with our current and upcoming events.

We are honored you are interested in volunteering with us.  Volunteering can be one of the most gratifying and fun things you can do. It is an opportunity to create positive change in people’s lives – including your own! Volunteers serve a vital role in our organization.  S.A.F.E. House is a relatively small agency and therefore has limited number of volunteer opportunities.  So please be patient if you contact us and find that we don’t currently have a volunteer opportunity that fits your interest and availability.

Due to the nature of the work that we do, all volunteers must be at least 16 years old and must complete a telephone interview, a volunteer application, a TB screening and a background check.  Most volunteer opportunities occur Monday – Friday. Here is a sample of the areas where we use volunteers.

Thrift Store

Come to our thrift store and help with sorting and pricing donated items or help customers find what they need in the store. Or help with picking up donations. Opportunities are available Monday- Fridays 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Children’s Groups

Our Children’s Groups meet Monday – Thursday evenings for 1-2 hours. This is an opportunity to assist our staff with activities for children from toddlers to teens.

Holiday Helpers

Some assistance will be needed in preparation for the Holidays (during the 2nd and 3rd weeks of December). Volunteers may help with picking up or sorting donations at the shelter and getting gifts ready for families who are in shelter. Volunteers are also needed to locate and gather large boxes (such as washer/dryer boxes) and to assist in setting up sorting stations for the holiday gift donations.

If one or more of these areas sounds like something that may fit your interest and skills we cordially invite you to contact us to get more information on current available opportunities by calling 505-247-4219. Please ask to speak to our volunteer coordinator.
